Protect the environment, prevent pandemics.

Image
We need to learn how to respect mother nature. We are an ecosystem, when one component is suffering, we all pay the price and we all suffer. There really is no planet B, we cannot flyout somewhere to be safe. We have to make Earth safe if we are to continue as a species. We are at a situation that we are fighting for our lives at a global scale. I guess to protect ourselves, we need to protect our ecosystem. May the time we have on our hands right now provide us time to ponder what has happened to our environment. May we survive this pandemic with a renewed vision. Let us help protect mother Earth and save humanity from ourselves.

Fighting Climate Change and the Corona Virus

As I write this blog entry, it has been two days already that we are working from home. The government has declared the lockdown of Metro Manila. Spending time at home provided much time to ponder and reflect on how fragile life can be. The work that we do, the daily routines that we do each day and the things that we take for granted are now looked upon with a different value. All of this has escalated quickly. We are unprepared at many levels. The 48 hours lead time since the declaration last Thursday of the community quarantine will be up in a few hours from now. Tomorrow will be the official start of the lockdown of Metro Manila until April 14, 2020. To combat anxiety and to be more productive, I will dedicate this time to do research and blog about what I learned in this space. The first article I am going to share with you is this - " Climate Change has lessons for Fighting the Corona Virus " by the New York Times. The article highlights the apathy or the inaction ag

Green Aircon "AirDisc" invented by a teenage Filipina

Maria Yzabell Angel V. Palma presents her AirDisc invention. This young Filipina inventor is working towards her dream to cool the world without the carbon foot print. Her invention does no use any refrigerant or hydrofluorocarbons. In an article by Philippine Star published about Yza Palma's AirDisc and how it works. AirDisc have a centrifugal compressor that uses rotating concentric air tanks with air inlets that continuously take in enough air molecules from a room for compression. The heat generated from the air compression is separated while the compressed air molecules with less heat are allowed to expand. This process effectively and continuously lowers the room temperature. She has been recognized world wide including the the International Federation of Inventors’ Association (IFIA). Read more here . I have been searching for role models for my own daughter who is in high school right now. This girl Yza could be an inspiration and a role model to all, across generatio

Person of the year

Image
This is the year 2020 and I have decided that from now on, I will dedicate this space to help our planet Earth for our future generations. This is Greta Thunberg. She is Time magazine's person of the year. I am inspired by her to act in my own small way to contribute to knowledge and increase awareness about climate change. For I belong to the current generation who have witnessed the effect of climate change. We have to do something about it for the future generation. No one is too small to make a difference.
